With pharmacy assistants being key points of contact for people with diabetes, a new online course has been launched called, An introduction to the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS).
Launched by Guild Learning and Development, with the NDSS and Diabetes Australia, the course introduces pharmacy assistants to the NDSS, equipping them to assist in the delivery of the NDSS in their pharmacy.
The NDSS is an Australian Government initiative and its purpose is to support self-management for all Australians affected by diabetes.
Among other initiatives it provides affordable access to subsidised diabetes products from access points across Australia.
Currently, more than 5,000 community pharmacies across Australia are part of the NDSS access point network.
Registration into the NDSS is free to those with diabetes who have a Medicare Card.
