PATY 2024: Third party nominations close 10 May

Today, Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, Professor Trent Twomey encouraged anyone wishing to
nominate an outstanding pharmacy assistant for The Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of
the Year Award (PATY) to do so soon, as third-party nominations close 10 May.
PATY, now in its 18th year, is the premier award for Australian pharmacy assistants, recognising and celebrating the
‘best of the best’ in community pharmacy.
Professor Twomey said he encourages all pharmacy owners, pharmacy managers and pharmacists to nominate a
pharmacy assistant colleague who deserve recognition for the role they play in improving health outcomes for their
community.
“As a pharmacy owner myself, I know how important it is to recognise and reward staff,” said Professor Twomey.
“The PATY Award provides the platform for this recognition and provides an amazing opportunity for those shortlisted
award nominees to grow and development during the award process.”
“However, with the deadline for nominations quickly approaching, we don’t want anyone to miss out on or
nominating a colleague.”
Professor Twomey also said that the award prizes are a fantastic incentive to nominate a colleague.
“The state winners receive access to exclusive training and development sessions, complimentary registration to the
PA Conference, return flights and accommodation in Sydney for attendance at the National Judging Workshop on 5
September, an invitation to be a judge in their respective PATY2025 state workshops, as well as recognition in
national industry publications,” said Professor Twomey.
“The national winner receives a cash prize of $5,000, complimentary registration, return flights and accommodation
for attendance at APP2025 and PA205 and an invitation to take part in the 2025 National Judging Workshop.”
The nomination process was streamlined and straightforward, Professor Twomey also noted.
“It doesn’t take much time to nominate someone,” said Professor Twomey, “the process only takes a few minutes of
filling out an online form.”
