Maintaining oral health

Media Release

Oral health is a vital and often overlooked component of overall health, and is fundamental to overall health and wellbeing.1

Poor oral health, particularly periodontal disease, has significant impacts on social engagement, quality of life, and vital activities of daily living.1

Maintaining oral health and preventing oral diseases is focused on plaque control, upholding oral structures and keeping them disease free.

Despite the importance of oral health, many Australians do not care for their teeth appropriately.

As the most accessible health professionals, pharmacists are well-positioned to assist their patients with their oral health both when purchasing oral hygiene products and generally.

Guild Learning and Development, in partnership with TePe Oral Hygiene Products, has developed a new mobile-friendly online course to educate pharmacists about oral health titled Maintaining oral health.

This course gives pharmacists an insight into oral health, with a focus on the importance of periodontal health.

This activity has been accredited for 0.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 0.5 CPD credits), suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan, which can be converted to 0.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 1 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
