4 EDITOR’S LETTER EDITOR’S LETTER It seems like only yesterday I was writing my final letter for 2020, wishing you all a happy and safe festive season, yet just like that we are back for 2021. While it feels a little late to be wishing you all a Happy New Year – given we’re well into the new year now – we hope you’re having a good start to 2021, and we are excited to bring you the first issue of the year – our Kids’ Issue. As children head back to school and parents go back to work – with many in the southern states heading back into the classroom and office for the first time after months of learning and working from home, we take a look at various health-related issues that kids, families and teachers in our communities are facing throughout this time. From boosting immunity, relieving anxiety to considering common skin conditions faced by kids and teens, we’ve covered all the must- read topics to make sure your customers are ready to tackle the 2021 school year as healthy and successfully as possible. But back to school is not the only focus this month. For many, February is the month for celebrating love. By the time this issue goes live, Valentine’s Day will be just around the corner with Cupid knocking on the doors of many. So, as you celebrate all things love this month, we urge you to consider the littlest and some of the bravest in our communities by participating in Sweetheart Day. This HeartKids campaign aims to raise much- needed awareness of congenital or childhood acquired heart disease (CHD). To learn more about HeartKids and Sweetheart Day head to page 18 to read my interview with the organisation’s marketing, media and communications manager, Di Crisp. Speaking of awareness campaigns, this month, we shine the spotlight on Ovarian Cancer, with February being the annual Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. To learn more about this devastating disease and about how you and your pharmacies can support this cause, head to page 14 to read my interview with Lucinda Nolan, CEO of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Our first issue is filled with interviews, profiles and the latest information to help you and your pharmacies have a successful start to 2021. 2020 was a challenging year but one that allowed your resilience, compassion and clear passion for the work you do for your communities to shine. We all learnt a lot over the last 12 months – about ourselves, our colleagues and our communities. 2021 is the time to cement those learnings, put them further into practice, and make the next 12 months a success. We’re excited to be back on board for another year and have many exciting things planned. Make sure you’ve signed up to our e-newsletter, magazine, and website, so you don’t miss out on everything we have in store. 2021 – bring it on! Let’s do this.
