20 PATY STATE/TERRITORY WINNERS Q+A with 2019 PATY state/territory winners Getting out to exercise can be a little harder during cold, sometimes rainy, winter days, and with the days shorter and darker, energy levels often plummet as the season goes on. This month we chat with the 2019 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award state and territory winners to find out their top tips for staying motivated and to learn about the products found in retail pharmacy that can boost our energy. Kane Forbes, Victoria – Casterton Pharmacy What is your advice for maintaining health and fitness goals in winter? Set yourself little challenges (either individual or with a friend or family member) or goals to meet, then reward yourself with something once these are achieved. What products would you recommend found in retail pharmacy that help to boost energy levels? I can’t go past the Blackmores Executive B. It’s a great starting point. Bridgette Atkinson, Queensland – Babinda Pharmacy What is your advice for maintaining health and fitness goals in winter? Have a goal, routine and a fitness buddy to keep you motivated. What products would you recommend found in retail pharmacy that help to boost energy levels? Berocca Boost. It’s a great tasting fizzy drink to keep you going. Catherine Brandis, Western Australia – Bunbury Drive- In Chemist What is your advice for maintaining health and fitness goals in winter? I think it’s important to create and maintain healthy habits that include daily exercise and meal prepping. Make it a weekly habit to go for a jog on the treadmill while watching your favourite Netflix show. Catching up with a friend for a workout session can also make it easier to exercise when it’s cold.
