It’s clear that Helen Sykes, owner of Powerhouse Pharmacy Brands, is passionate about the pharmacy industry. With her wealth of experience within pharmacy, brand management and sales, it’s evident the best interests of the brands under her wing are well represented. This month, Retail Pharmacy Assistants’ Margaret Mielczarek chats with Helen about how you can make your front of shop a standout success.
What is Powerhouse Pharmacy Brands and how did it come about?
I started in the pharmacy industry when I was 16 years old
and worked my way up from junior chemist work duties to becoming senior to a manager then buyer. After many years enjoying this role I was offered a job as a pharmacy sales representative and was very lucky to be involved in the launch of Imedeen, which was one of the first internal skin care supplements launched in Australia, working alongside the famous Kerri-Anne Kennerly. Eventually, I went on to become state manager and helped launch Blooms Health Products and Anthogenol into the marketplace and then became National Sales Manager for Vetalogica pet health care supplements for pharmacies; a great successful concept.
I was then inspired and confident enough to start my own business and created a pharmacy sales agency around
10 years ago; representing incredible brands. This enabled me to offer amazing products and great customer service
to pharmacies, ensuring that they have one point of contact who is dedicated and someone who understands the industry and what is required to make sure they’re successful, and that they range diverse products on their shelves that their customers love and are looking for. >>
