The Jodi Lee Foundation and Star Discount Chemist are joining forces during the month of June to help prevent bowel cancer through a new round-up campaign.

Round up your purchases in-store at Discount Chemist across Australia during June and your small change can make a big difference in someone’s life.

Alarmingly, incidences of bowel cancer in young people have risen 266 per cent in the past three decades in Australia. Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia, and the leading cancer killer in Australians aged 25-44. However, if detected early, up to 99 per cent of bowel cancers can be successfully treated and this is why it is so important to educate all Australians about how they can prevent bowel cancer.

Founder and Chair of Jodi Lee Foundation, Nick Lee OAM, thanks Star Discount Chemist for their ongoing support and for partnering with the foundation for the campaign.

“We’ve been working with Star Discount Chemist for several years now and we are extremely grateful for the partnership. During this time, we have been able to educate their pharmacists and retail staff and how they can play a role in the prevention of bowel cancer. This new Round Up campaign will further educate Star Discount Chemist customers while also raising funds for the Jodi Lee Foundation to continue our fight against bell cancer,” Nick said.

“My wife Jodi sadly passed away from bowel cancer at age 41 but things could have been so different if we knew more about the prevention and early detection of the disease.

“This is why the Jodi Lee Foundation was established: to educate Australians on how they can protect themselves against this highly preventable disease,” Nick said.

The Jodi Lee Foundation encourages Australians BEAT bowel cancer: Be active and healthy, Explore family history, Act on symptoms, and Take a Bowel Cancer screening test. For more information visit The Jodi Lee Foundation website.

Star Pharmacy Group CEO Peter Piliouras, also praised the partnership and the launch of the roundup campaign initiative.

“We’re proud to be working with The Jodi Lee Foundation on Round Up campaign this June. Our Star Discount Chemist team is committed to improving health outcomes in our community and raising awareness is critical. Every customer can choose to make a difference by rounding up their purchase by a few cents. Every little bit helps,” Peter said.
