3 Tips to Brush Up on for National Brush Day

Studies  have shown that there is a link between oral health and whole-body health. Researchers have found that gum disease is connected to cardiovascular disease among other conditions and diseases. In short, a happy mouth leads to a happy body.

In honor of National Brush Day next month, Julie Seager, RDH, BSDH, shares three tips and tricks on how to best take care of your smile.

  • Be sure to spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth. One minute for top teeth and one minute for lower teeth.
  • Don’t forget to clean the tongue! A toothbrush can be used to brush the tongue or use a tongue scraper.
  • Toothbrushing apps can help with technique and make brushing fun.
  • After using an all-natural mouthwash, just spit it out and don’t rinse with water after using the mouthwash.
