The recent decision by the Pharmacy Board of Australia to authorise the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) to develop accreditation standards for pharmacist prescribing education programs has been referred to as an encouraging step forward for the pharmacy industry by the Australasian College of Pharmacy.
The College welcomes this decision with College President, Michelle Bou-Samra saying that it’s a positive development and will enable pharmacists to provide greater healthcare services to their customers.
“As the leading education provider for the pharmacy industry, the College will support pharmacists across Australia with their educational needs as they continue on their journey to the full scope of practice,” Ms Bou-Samra said.
“Our mission is to provide high-quality education and training to ensure pharmacists are practising to their full scope.”
Ms Bou-Samra says the College is looking forward to working with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and the APC in the development and implementation of the pharmacist prescribing programs.
