Celebrate your mum this Mother’s Day by helping a new one with the Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s ‘Pumped For Life’ Mother’s Day Appeal.
Supported by Humpty Dumpty Foundation Patron Johanna Griggs AM the ‘Pumped for Life’ Mother’s Day Appeal is fundraising to provide urgently needed, hospital-grade breast pumps to hospitals and health services across Australia from now until 12 May 2025.
A lack of access to hospital-grade breast pumps in neonatal clinics puts newborns at risk, particularly premature or critically ill babies. For many new mothers, watching their baby fight for life in an isolated humidicrib is an unimaginable challenge. Expressing milk is one of the few things they can do to nurture and connect with their baby.
Across Australia, almost 1 in 5 babies require admission to Special Care Nursery or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the hospital. This is 17% of babies born who require specialised care.
A hospital-grade breast pump becomes vital when physical contact isn’t possible, ensuring newborns receive the essential nutrition and antibodies they need to survive and thrive. Mother’s milk for premature babies is crucial to improve digestive function, reduce infection, improve brain and eye development and improve bonding between mother and baby.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation’s ‘Pumped For Life’ appeal first launched for Mother’s Day in 2024 as a response to the urgent need to support new and nursing mums in every state and territory whose babies are receiving critical care in hospitals across the country.
In its first year, the appeal funded 52 hospital-grade breast pumps for 33 hospitals and health services, making a tangible difference in the lives of new mothers and their babies. However, the need remains urgent, and many more hospitals require this essential equipment.
Humpty Dumpty Foundation CEO & Managing Director, Claire Reaney, said of the Appeal, “With the generosity of corporate partners and donors, in 2024 we raised $160,000, delivering 50+ breast pumps to 33 hospitals nationwide through the ‘Pumped for Life’ Appeal. This Mother’s Day, the need remains critical, and we’re committed to doing even more through the second annual ‘Pumped for Life’ Appeal.
For mothers facing complications at birth, or those who aren’t able to breastfeed their sick baby, providing breast milk through a pump offers comfort, connection, and hope and ensures their baby’s wellbeing. With your support, we can expand our hospital reach and support more mothers to ensure their newborns receive the vital nutrition they need”.

About Humpty Dumpty Foundation
In 2025 the Humpty Dumpty Foundation marks 35 years. In this time the Humpty Dumpty Foundation with its supporters have provided lifesaving medical equipment and healthcare initiatives to help sick babies and children in over 500 hospitals and health services across Australia.
To date, Humpty has raised over $100 million and annually, on average, provides 500 pieces of medical equipment to paediatric wards, neonatal units, and maternity and emergency departments across the country. The Foundation also supports a growing list of special projects and healthcare initiatives to improve health outcomes.
The Humpty Dumpty Foundation is the largest charitable supplier behind State and Territory Governments of children’s medical equipment and health initiatives nationwide. The Foundation works closely with health officials and communities to ensure all states and territories have access to the healthcare and equipment they need to help sick kids in hospital. Almost 50% of all funds raised by Humpty and its supporters go to rural and remote communities.
Humpty’s impact dramatically increases positive health outcomes for sick babies and children by ensuring hospitals have access to state-of-the-art, easy-to-use, and reliable equipment. Not only are the equipment and healthcare initiatives child-specific and appropriate for newborn and paediatric care, but having this equipment significantly reduces separation and anxiety between kids and their loved ones by allowing these sick children to receive the care they need close to home.
Individuals, schools, community and business organisations interested in supporting the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and their local hospital, either by donating a piece of medical equipment, making a general donation, or fundraising can visit www.humpty.org.au or contact the Humpty Dumpty Foundation on 1300 486 789 (1300 HUMPTY).
