6 CAMPAIGN CATCH UP PATY AWARD NOMINATIONS SET TO OPEN Nominations for this year’s Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year (PATY) Award open on 15 March. PATY is the premier award for some 35,000 pharmacy assistants in Australia. It provides a public platform to recognise the high value pharmacy assistants contribute to employers, the community and the industry. Award prizes include $5000 cash and a Guild Training course for the national winner and travel to the 2021 Pharmacy Assistant National Conference (PA2021) in October in Brisbane for the eight state and territory winners. Following a move to an online format in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s state/territory awards will be contested via a virtual format, with the national award being contested face to face at PA2021. Meet the 2020 PATY national winner at APP2021 Pharmacy assistants attending this year’s Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference and Trade Exhibition (APP2021) will be able to meet the 2020 Pharmacy Assistant of the Year, Ben King (pictured), at a dedicated session on Friday 21 May on the Gold Coast. The free session will provide tips on how you could become a Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year (PATY) state/territory finalist, state/ territory winner or national winner in 2021. Also featuring 2019 PATY national winner Brianne Lowe, the session is promoted as the perfect opportunity for PAs to discover what it takes to be a PATY winner. Award judges will also be on hand to answer any questions about the award process. Lunch will be provided for all attending the session. The Pharmacy Guild says APP2021 offers pharmacy assistants some fantastic networking and education opportunities, including free trade exhibition access, free tickets to the welcome reception, discounted registration fees, and discounted tickets to the street party (with stand- up dinner).
