As we head into spring, what are your top tips for staying on top of seasonal allergies?
Avoid triggers when possible and
find what product works for you,
use it regularly and stick to it. I like
to recommend using products in combination like a nasal spray and tablets, or eye drops and tablets depending on which symptoms are the most severe.
Spring is often a time people may do detoxes or try different diets and plans to shift the extra kilo’s they may have gained during winter. What are your top tips for achieving weight loss goals? Are there any products that may assist with this in retail pharmacy?
Set yourself little challenges (either individual or against a friend or family member) or goals to meet and then reward yourself with something once these are achieved. People might be interested in trying shakes. I like to use the Reducter for when people start to feel hungry.

Stay inside on windy days, don’t go outside in the morning when pollen is at its highest, get a gardener in to do your gardening, close your house at night
to stop pollen getting inside and don’t hang your washing outside. Take an antihistamine daily, to keep these symptoms at bay.

Have a routine, exercise with a friend and eat nutritious and delicious food. Get into your local pharmacy who offers the Impromy program. It is developed in collaboration with the CSIRO. There’s no better time to start than now.
Catherine Brandis, Western Australia
– Bunbury Drive-In Chemist
As we head into spring, what are your top tips for staying on top of seasonal allergies?
My tips to stay on top of seasonal allergies is prepare yourself before walking out the front door in the morning. Use an antihistamine to prevent allergy symptoms such as runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, itchy throat etc. Make sure you take your allergy medication with you, so if you need to up your dose through the day you can. Be aware of the pollen count in your local area, so you can properly prepare yourself for the coming day. Radio stations often report pollen count for the day in mornings or you can easily search for these results on Google.

Finding what works for you is an essential step to take, to ensure you reach success. Speaking with your local pharmacist and pharmacy assists means you can collect
information about weight loss programs, body types, consuming a nutritious
daily diet, exercise tips and potential setbacks that may occur in your weight loss journey. At your local pharmacy
you can find the correct program along with complementary products, no sign up fees or contracts and receive support throughout your weight loss journey.

your top tips for staying on top of seasonal allergies?
Be prepared and don’t let your
allergies get out of control. Taking
daily, non-drowsy antihistamines is a great option with the choice of adding an antihistamine nasal spray or eye drops for any breakthrough symptoms. Alternatively, the corticosteroid nasal sprays are also great for severe allergies. Remember to educate the customer to use a saline nasal spray five minutes before their medicated spray to prepare the lining of their nose and to aim the nasal spray out towards their ear, so that the spray stays local instead of going straight up their nose and down the back of their throat.

We are doing really well with the Lady Shake and Man Shake range for meal replacement drinks and snacks. Helping educate our customers that weight management is a full lifestyle choice is also key. The detox kits are not in such demand anymore but giving themselves a bit of a reboot with a course of milk thistle and probiotics, while increasing their water consumption and exercise will always get them off to a good start.
