What are some things that might be available at a retail pharmacy that pharmacy assistants can recommend to customers seeking to enhance their mental health/wellbeing? Creating a nurturing space at home can be helpful, so buying some essential oils, hand creams, etc., can be a nice way to add a daily ritual of self-care into your day. Often our diets can change when stuck at home, so it may be worth considering a multivitamin with good amounts of active B-group vitamins, which can be helpful when we’re under stress. Important nutrients to keep a good intake of for mental health include B-complex vitamins, zinc, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids. Herbs that may help with stress and anxiety include kava, chamomile, valerian, St John’s wort and passionflower – but please speak to a qualified naturopath or pharmacist before self-administering these herbs, in case of contraindications.
