Moonlight Cinema about to get greener

Moonlight Cinema is set to get greener than ever before for the 21/22 summer season thanks to Moonlight’s ‘Green Partner’ Garnier.

This comes as part of the beauty brand’s ‘Green Beauty’ commitments.

Dedicated to providing skincare, haircare and hair colour products that contain natural formulas using sustainable ingredients, Garnier has ensured Moonlight Cinema’s 470 screenings nationwide will be powered by 100% renewable energy from solar panels.

Garnier Marketing Director, Jane Hanger, explains that the partnership is part of the leading beauty brand’s ‘Green Beauty’ mission, which seeks to encourage sustainable beauty choices amongst consumers.

“At Garnier, we are extremely excited to be partnering with Moonlight Cinema again and have extended our partnership this year to initiate renewable energy powered screenings nationally.

“We believe in working with partners who share our values and commitment to sustainability, as we seek to reduce our global environmental impact for future generations.

“We’re thrilled to also be educating Moonlight Cinema’s audience about sustainable practices, in some of our cities’ most beautiful natural environments, over a shared picnic and movie under the stars,” says Ms Hanger.

Tickets to Moonlight Cinema’s December program are now available, with the cinema under the stars running until April across six locations nationally.

John Boero, General Manager of Entertainment Operations, Event Hospitality and Entertainment, explains the importance of greener screenings.

“Continuing to improve on our sustainable practices is extremely important to us, so we are pleased and proud to be partnering with Garnier.

‘It is a privilege to be able to operate in Australia’s most beautiful parklands and we take the responsibility seriously to ensure they remain as green as they were before we arrived,” he says.

As Moonlight’s Green Partner, Garnier will reportedly work with Atlas Renewables, an Australian solar specialist accredited with the Clean Energy Council.

The renewable energy for the Moonlight Cinema screenings will come from Atlas Renewables’ Solar Pivotel Satellite project in Dubbo, NSW.

“The commitment from Garnier to use 100% renewable energy to power Moonlight Cinema’s screenings will ensure minimal greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels which in turn reduces air pollution and helps to slow climate change,” says George Guse, Director, Atlas Renewables Pty Ltd.

In addition to this new environmental initiative with Moonlight Cinema and Atlas Renewables, Garnier has committed to meeting several sustainability goals by 2025, including 100% carbon neutral industrial sites, together with using zero virgin plastic, 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging and ensuring 75% of all ingredients in its haircare and skincare innovations are bio-based, renewable and regenerating constantly in relatively short cycles.

Moonlight Cinema guests will be able to learn more about Garnier’s ‘Green Beauty’ commitments at the Garnier Garden Cart, which will be onsite at film screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide with take-home samples of Garnier’s most popular products available.
