Innovative program driving pharmacy sales

The Healthcare Heroes program has delivered its participating members a 10% increase in like-for-like retail sales in 2021 vs 2020 as compared to non-participating members who report a 5% increase in sales in the same period, says Pharmacy Alliance.

Established in October 20202 and exclusive to Alliance Pharmacy members, the Healthcare Heroes retail and marketing program aims to cultivate a more profitable and sustainable, customer-centric business long-term. 

Healthcare Heroes is said to position community pharmacies as experts in pain, immunity, and diabetes-related management.

Pharmacy Alliance hopes to continue to grow its Alliance Pharmacy branded network as well as Healthcare Heroes Program to benefit more independent pharmacy owners. 

Old Bar Pharmacy owner, and one of the inaugural Alliance Pharmacy Healthcare Heroes, Mr Akash Mehta, is thrilled with the program’s results to date. 

“Since joining Healthcare Heroes, our overall sales have increased by 20%, with front of shop sales up by 17%, medicines by 24%, and basket size increasing from $17 to $22,” he says.

“Our catalogue performance is also well above the national average, at 32%. In addition, we have more than 1000 Healthy Rewards loyalty customers, half of whom signed up within the first four weeks of launch.”

Mr Mehta says that Alliance Pharmacy’s guidance and support has also included “hands-on merchandising and layout support to better meet our community’s needs”.

“We also benefited from the Healthcare Heroes program’s integrated national marketing campaigns, which included in-store activations for osteo pain and immunity, targeted digital catch-up TV, and local, geo-targeted social advertising geo-targeted,” says Mr Mehta.
