Chemist Warehouse has thrown its weight behind this year’s Liptember campaign, giving the annual push for women’s mental health a new retail presence.

For the first time since the partnership began in 2010, the Liptember Box — a $29.99 curation of beauty and wellness products — is available in-store and online, alongside individual Liptember lipsticks and lip-glosses available for $4.99 each.

A sobering backdrop

The collaboration between Chemist Warehouse and Women’s Mental Health Australia, formerly the Liptember Foundation, comes against a sobering backdrop: “1 in 2 Australian women will experience mental health issues in their lifetime”.

Chemist Warehouse Deputy CEO Mario Tascone says making the Liptember Box available in stores is about lowering the barrier to getting involved in the campaign.

“This year, we’re making it easier than ever to get behind Liptember, with the Liptember Box available in Chemist Warehouse stores for the first time,” says Mr Tascone.

“Every Liptember Box, lipstick and lip-gloss purchased will help raise funds for women’s mental health, but Liptember is about so much more than fundraising.

“It’s about encouraging women and girls to speak up, check in with one another and know that it’s okay to ask for support.”

More than just a lipstick

Women’s Mental Health Australia Founder Luke Morris reflects on how far the campaign has come.

“Thanks to the long-term commitment of Chemist Warehouse, what began 16 years ago as a simple campaign — wear a bright lipstick, start a conversation — today funds Women’s Mental Health Australia, the nation’s leading organisation for women’s mental health,” he says.

“That support has powered outcomes such as our largest annual research study, alongside national programs, advocacy and education working towards a future where every Australian woman can achieve her optimal mental health.”

Get involved

Throughout September, Australians are encouraged to get involved by purchasing a Liptember product, wearing their brightest lipstick, and, most importantly, using the campaign to start conversations about women’s mental health.
