SunSense continues partnership with Biggest Bakslap sunscreen challenge

SunSense Sunscreen is partnering with Australia’s Biggest Bakslap for the third year running, as the Official Sunscreen Sponsor. The event aims to promote sun safety and raise awareness for the fight against skin cancer.

Since the inaugural live event on the beaches of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast in 2019, Australia’s Biggest Bakslap has transitioned to an online platform, taking it from the beach to the screens while navigating Covid-19 restrictions.

Founder and creator of Bakslap, Raphael McGowan, says that it is vital to promote the message of sun safety, even though events have changed.

“We have transformed what would have been a physical event into a digital Sunscreen Challenge game that people can take part in online, from anywhere on their phones on December 12.”

The game sees participants applying SunSense Sunscreen and other sun safety items to a family of characters across three generations. This event aims to set a new digital World Record – for the most people applying sunscreen in 24 hours. Currently it is 3,190 set in 2020 by participants playing the game.

“We’d love to see people from all over Australia play the game on December 12, be part of setting a new world record and kick-off summer with sun safety top of mind,” says Mr McGowan.

Australia’s Biggest Bakslap aims to have as many young people as possible participating in the simultaneous sunscreen application game, because they are in a high-risk category for melanoma.

SunSense are avid supporters of sun safety and skin cancer awareness, and are currently donating $1 from every SunSense sunscreen purchased to Melanoma Institute Australia to help further their work towards zero deaths from melanoma.

Anyone can take part in this year’s Australia’s Biggest Bakslap held on Sunday 12 December. To register, or for more information, visit: bakslap.com.
