A beauty basket with many benefits

From the brand-new mother to the well-seasoned one, there’s something available in retail pharmacies for every kind of mum, especially when it comes to the beauty department.

GAIA Nipple Balm

During pregnancy, many women experience “skin dryness, skin sensitivities and itchiness as skin is stretched by the growth of the baby, as the breasts are enlarged in preparation for breastfeeding”, says GAIA Skin Naturals Marketing Manager Kat Maxwell.

“This can result in stretch marks, which can affect a new mum’s self-confidence,” she says. “Skin becomes more pliable and better able to stretch when it’s well hydrated. “

GAIA provides a nipple balm that is said to, “moisturise, soothe and protect” sore, cracked nipples.

Quenching Coconut Water Eye Lift Cream

It’s fair to say that mothers lose quite a bit of sleep from time to time, so turning to an eye cream could be beneficial.

Discussing the use of Andalou’s Quenching Coconut Water Eye Lift Cream, Mykaela Najm, global product trainer at Andalou Naturals says it “instantly hydrates for a refreshing effect.”

“Vitamin C, green coffee and coconut water brighten and smooth the eye area,” she says.

G&M Native Australian Rosehip Oil

Mothers are generally on the go, so products that offer multiple benefits are likely to appeal to them.

Peter Bosevski, Global Marketing and Sales Manager at G&M Australian Cosmetics, suggests that some mothers “must multitask and be efficient time managers – they want an effective, no-fuss beauty routine, one that delivers optimum skin health and makes them look good and feel better in themselves”.

He says G&M Native Australian Rosehip Oil is “100% pure, a soothing all-natural certified organic oil, great for mothers wanting to repair, nourish and improve the overall appearance of their skin”.

Mustela Stretch Marks Cream

While stretch marks are a natural part of life, it’s not uncommon for women to still feel uncomfortable about them.

“Apart from the obvious rewards of reducing the appearance of stretch marks and soothing that annoying itchy tummy, taking time each day during your pregnancy for yourself (and why not your partner?) to massage your growing abdomen is also a moment of relaxation and tranquillity to kick start the bonding process with your baby,” Expanscience Laboratories General Manager and former pharmacist Anne Wright says.

Mustela promotes its Stretch Marks Cream as helping mothers to feel more confident in their growing stomach.
